The Community Fruit in Schools', introduced by Regulation (EC) n.1234/2007 of the Council of 22 October 2007, aims to increase consumption of fruits and vegetables by children and implement initiatives that support more healthy eating habits and a more balanced nutrition, at the stage where they are developing their eating habits.
The objectives of the program:
promote consumption of fruits and vegetables among children aged between six and eleven years of age;
build a closer relationship between the "producer-supplier and the consumer, addressing the selection criteria and the individual actions that become established knowledge and new awareness of "who produces" and "who consumes"
give children more opportunities to learn and perform on a "practice test" natural products in different varieties and types, such options as alternatives, in order to steer between the constant pressure of advertising and develop a capacity for choice and the information "children" will be designed and made with relevant methodologies and relevant to their system learning (eg sensory laboratories).
