Treviso, March 12, 2011

Dear Mr. prefect of Treviso,
SCUOLANDIA we, a group of teachers, students and parents of Public School in the Province of Treviso, which stands for form a committee.
We turn to you as a government official in our territory, two reasons.
The first concerns the reason why we joined the demonstration today, February 12, called by many grassroots groups, beyond any specific political affiliation, in defense of the Constitution of the School ; Publish.
We have plenty of reasons to be concerned about is the one that for the other.
The current government policy, put in our opinion both in grave danger, and as such Calmandrei, we believe that the schools may in effect be regarded as a constitutional body, you will be easy for us to understand how the two things coincide.
We believe it is our right to inform you that our serious concern and discomfort and we trust that you want to do with the bearer with those who govern this nation.
The second reason why we write about, however, more directly your role and your duties.
Recent regulations introduced by the Minister Gelmini, certainly knows how to, increase substantially the number of pupils per class in order to cut dramatically the funding for public education.
do not intend, of course, engage in a political debate with you about it. We prefer to ask your attention to something else.
In response to the demands of the Ministry, the Office of the Provincial School of Treviso is limited to cut teaching posts and increase the number of students per class, without taking into account if the minimum existing structures would be able to satisfy the request in compliance with state
security force.
This makes us sensibly believe that even here in the Veneto and Treviso in our, our children and students will bear every day in classrooms that, in many cases, non-standard, inadequate and objectively dangerous.
Add to that the state school construction throughout the province, which would need careful analysis regarding many aspects of security: the presence of toxic materials (asbestos) , the lack of a series of measures to prevent any kind of danger (fire, earthquake, panic states, the first medical intervention, regulations regarding electrical systems and so on) for both students and teachers and staff throughout the school.
on everything we are confident that you will not want to refrain from making any findings and, if necessary, to ensure that all situations are inadequate and dangerous as soon as possible removed, or, conversely, the School Department will take, as it must, adequate consideration in the formulation of organic fact and law, beyond requests that come from Rome and the new parameters set by the minister Gelmini.
In Italy you can die of school, it's already happened: I am sure you will remember, as we do.
Thanking you for your attention, and look forward to your kind reply.

SCUOLANDIA with 236 signatures
